Nido's Safety

A few ways Nido creates a safe home for your child during their studies:
- The Resident Assistants are live-in student staff committed to the personal and academic success of our residents and a supportive physical environment. They strengthen the sense of community through leadership, programming, referrals, policy enforcement and student well being. They are the residents’ primary source for information, problem solving and support. RAs are often first-responders to safety and facility-related issues, provide information about the community, and also help facilitate some social and educational events for residents
- Nido King’s Cross has been equipped with a sophisticated fire detection system which will be activated if it senses extreme heat or smoke in any part of the residence. Each room is fitted with a room door which also acts as 30 minutes fire safety protection in case of a fire in the building.
- Security staff are on call 24 hours a day and are also fully trained first aiders
- Nido is a smoke-free community in all residential and common-area locations of the building.
- As a matter of safety and security, we request all residents complete a travel itinerary prior to jetting off on the weekends. This is so that your child can be accounted for if you or the university calls or if an event at Nido or in London occurs.
- Students own more expensive consumer goods per head than the rest of the population. It is no surprise then that 1 in 3 students becomes the victim of a crime each year. Nido has been developed incorporating state of the art security measures to ensure the safety of you and your belongings, however your student is advised to refer to their handbook and note all safety precautions.
- Courtesy Hours are in effect 24 hours a day. This means that even on weekends, a resident has the right to sleep and study and may ask other residents to keep the noise level down if they are being bothered by excessive noise
