Nido Parent Information

While your promising students are out of your care we will do everything in our power to offer them support as residents at Nido. In this section you will find a bit of information on the support we provide to your children. We understand what our residents are going through and you can assist.
It’s a Big Adjustment
Students are dealing with, separation from their family, friends and hometown, new roommates with communal living, new found freedom and personal responsibility. Nido is a safe and secure home which will allow residents to move slowly but steadily into the freedom and responsibility that comes with living in the capital. Separation from parents and friends can be a hard thing to deal with, the Resident Assistants are live-in student staff committed to the personal and academic success of our residents and a supportive physical environment connecting your student to others in the building through community events assisting them through any homesickness they may be experiencing. This is an exciting time for them, resist the urge to fix their mistake and encourage exploration knowing full well that they are in the safe hands of the well trained staff at Nido when they come home.
A New Level of Academic Rigor
Students are facing a very challenging first year or academic course with the added stresses of being away from home. It is important that parents remind them that university studies are not like high school, coach them through failures, encourage realism and accountability and point residents toward resources at their university or Nido when feeling stressed. Security are in and around the building 24 hours a day should any residents require assistant at any time, they can dial down to reception and security will come up and assist them with any situation they may be facing. Lack of sleep and being unprepared for exams are the highest causes of student stress and we aim to limit these factors at all time throughout NIdo. Air-conditioned quiet study rooms are also available to students to facilitate their learning.
Personal Health and Safety
Students are dealing with Self-care (Eating, Exercise, Sleeping, Health Maintenance) and Safe and responsible decision-making (Where I go and what I do) with this new level of responsibility and freedom in London. Nido hopes to promote balanced living, empowering residents to make healthy choices. With the help of the Residence-life programmes and in house café at Nido we hope to encourage healthy eating and healthy living. Meal plan options are also available to parents should they want to ensure their child is eating correctly while living at Nido.
